PEMF Ireland is part of the Proactive Healthcare family, a company founded in 1994 with a simple but enduring mission: to help people take greater control of their health, wellbeing, and quality of life.The roots of the company can be traced back to the inspiration Stephen Watton received from pioneers in the natural health movement, including Brian and Celia Wright of Green Farm and later Higher Nature.
Their vision of empowering people through education, nutrition, and personal responsibility left a lasting impression and helped shape the principles upon which Proactive Healthcare was built.Driven by his own health journey and that of his late wife, Lindy, Stephen developed the company around a philosophy that remains unchanged today.

Over the past three decades, Proactive Healthcare has continually searched the world for innovative technologies, products, and therapies that support human health and wellbeing. Rather than following trends, the company has focused on identifying solutions that are practical, evidence-informed, and capable of making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
A pivotal moment came on Christmas Eve 2015 when a close friend, a professor at a leading university, gifted Stephen a book on Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF). Fascinated by the science and potential of this emerging technology, he spent the Christmas holidays immersed in research.
Convinced that PEMF represented an important advancement in wellness technology, Stephen immediately travelled to Germany and Switzerland to meet manufacturers, researchers, and industry leaders. What began as curiosity quickly evolved into a passion and ultimately led to the creation of PEMF Ireland. As his understanding of PEMF deepened, so did his conviction that this technology could play an important role in supporting healthy ageing, recovery, circulation, energy production, and overall wellbeing.
Over the following years, he travelled extensively throughout Europe, building relationships with leading researchers, engineers, and manufacturers dedicated to advancing the field of bioelectromagnetic wellness technologies.
In 2019, another important milestone occurred during a visit to Germany, where Stephen met Christian Pilchler, founder of Santerra and creator of the SanzaPro system. Developed in 2000, the SanzaPro had been refined through years of research and collaboration with several European universities and scientific institutions.
What immediately stood out was that the SanzaPro was not simply a PEMF device. It combined multiple complementary technologies into a single system, creating a wellness platform designed to support the body’s natural ability to recover, adapt, and maintain balance. This integrated approach aligned perfectly with Proactive Healthcare’s vision of bringing together innovative technologies to create more complete wellness solutions.
What immediately stood out was that the SanzaPro was not simply a PEMF device. It combined multiple complementary technologies into a single system, creating a wellness platform designed to support the body’s natural ability to recover, adapt, and maintain balance. The first is an advanced PEMF sleep and recovery system that integrates discreetly into the user’s bed, allowing wellness sessions to take place while resting or sleeping. The concept was inspired by the understanding that the body’s vast microcirculatory network, extending through tens of thousands of miles of blood vessels, plays a vital role in delivering oxygen, nutrients, and red blood cells throughout the body. By supporting healthy circulation and cellular communication, the system is designed to complement the body’s natural recovery and regenerative processes.
The second is a pioneering integrated wellness chamber that combines four complementary technologies into a single treatment experience: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, PEMF Therapy, Red Light Therapy, and advanced Psychoneuroimmunology Sound Therapy.
This unique system reflects Stephen’s belief that the future of wellness lies not in isolated therapies, but in intelligent integration. As PEMF Ireland and Proactive Healthcare continue to evolve, Stephen is joined by his daughter Sarah, who shares his passion for helping people improve their wellbeing and quality of life. Together they continue to build upon the company’s original vision while embracing the opportunities presented by new technologies and emerging science.
Over the years, Stephen has come to realise that the company’s purpose extends far beyond supplying wellness equipment. Technologies may change, and scientific understanding will continue to evolve, but the objective remains constant.
